~1/5 of population completely lacks the mental ability to imagine novel concepts without being explicitly shown.
Because intelligent people usually completely lack personal contact with such people due to social circles ever since finishing primary school, this is usually overlooked and ignored by research and social theorists.

As a child, I was attracted to reading books because my parents had many of them and some had interesting pictures. There was a particular one I liked and wanted to read and did so soon after learning how to read. Already in primary school I was reading books for adults.
Some people never read books outside of school.
I think that makes for a large gap in things like recursive language.
